Annalisa Muguwe has been sent back to remand prison after the Harare courts revoked her bail amid questions surrounding a medical certificate she presented to explain her absence from previous court proceedings.
The court raised concerns over the authenticity of the document and ordered the medical practitioner named on the certificate, Doctor F. Vangayi, to appear and provide an explanation under oath regarding its legitimacy.
The matter took a dramatic turn after a witness reportedly came forward claiming that Muguwe was neither ill nor attended any medical consultation on the day in question.
The witness is expected to testify once the doctor appears before the court, potentially providing crucial evidence in the ongoing case.
Muguwe is currently being held at Chikurubi Maximum Security Prison as investigations continue.
Legal observers say that if the medical certificate is found to have been falsified, additional charges could follow.
