Bafana Bafana have received the necessary visas to travel to the United States for the FIFA World Cup, ending a brief delay that had affected the team’s departure plans.
Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Gayton McKenzie confirmed that all players have now been issued with their visas and are ready to travel.
McKenzie said only a few members of the support staff, including the assistant coach, team doctor, head of security, and one analyst, are still awaiting their visas.
“The charter will leave tomorrow,” he confirmed.
With the visa process largely complete, the South African national team is set to depart for the United States full of confidence and excitement ahead of the tournament.
As part of their preparations, Bafana Bafana are scheduled to face Jamaica in an international friendly on 5 June.
