The iconic National Sports Stadium is set to reopen on May 31 as CAPS United prepare to host Scottland in a major Castle Lager Premiership clash.
The fixture will serve as an important operational test ahead of the stadium’s full official reopening after nearly five years of closure.
The venue has undergone extensive renovations led by Sakunda Holdings as part of efforts to meet CAF and FIFA international standards.
Among the major upgrades are 55,000 new bucket seats, electronic turnstiles, a fully revamped all-weather pitch with modern drainage and irrigation systems, upgraded ablution facilities, and improved water infrastructure.
The stadium has also been fitted with LED floodlights, backup power generators, CCTV surveillance systems, and modernized dressing rooms and media facilities.
The reopening marks a major step toward restoring international football to Zimbabwe and signals a new era for local sport.
