Netflix has released the first teaser for The Polygamist, a 22-episode supernovela adapted from Sue Nyathi’s novel, set to premiere globally on June 12, 2026.
Produced by Stained Glass Productions, the series brings together a strong creative team including Gugu Zuma-Ncube, Thuli Zuma, and Pepsi Pokane, with direction from Akin Omotoso and others.
The story follows Jonasi Gomora, played by Sdumo Mtshali, a powerful CEO whose empire begins to unravel as his relationships with multiple partners lead to secrets, betrayal, and conflict.
Gugu Gumede co-stars as Joyce Gomora, alongside a large ensemble cast.
Centered on four women connected to Jonasi’s life, the series explores themes of love, ambition, and survival in a glamorous but unstable world.
Led by head writer Busisiwe Zwane, the production marks another major step in Netflix’s investment in high-quality African storytelling.
