Former Minister Walter Mzembi has been granted US$1,000 bail by the High Court in Harare pending judgment in a US$2 million fraud case.

Mzembi is facing allegations of unlawfully donating television sets that were intended for 2010 FIFA World Cup fan parks without approval from Treasury or Cabinet.

As part of his bail conditions, he is required to surrender his passport, remain at his Harare residence, and stay within a 30 kilometre radius of the court.

He was arrested in June 2025 after returning from South Africa.

Despite being granted bail, Mzembi remains in custody due to a paperwork issue but is expected to be released on Tuesday.

The case continues to draw attention as legal proceedings move toward final judgment.
