Zimbabwe’s finest Olympian, Tadiwanashe Makarawu, has won two of the most prestigious sports awards at the University of Kentucky’s Catspy Awards.
Makarawu was named Athlete of the Year and also received the Mr Wildcat award, marking a major achievement in his outstanding athletics career.
He captured two NCAA national titles in 2025, first winning the 200m indoor championship in March before securing the 200m outdoor championship in June.
His outdoor victory was even more historic as he clocked a remarkable 19.84 seconds, setting both a school record and a national record.
The achievement further cements his status as one of Zimbabwe’s greatest track athletes and a rising global sprint star.
His success continues to inspire young athletes across Zimbabwe and highlights the country’s growing excellence on the international stage.
