The Zimbabwe Republic Police has confirmed the arrest of two armed robbery suspects and the deaths of four others following a dramatic shootout in Warren Park, Harare.
The suspects are believed to be linked to a series of violent robberies that affected the capital during February and March.
The operation reportedly began in Glenview 7 Extension, where detectives arrested Nelson Chitima, leading to the recovery of a Nissan NV350 vehicle, a balaclava, gloves, and suspected stolen liquor.
Further investigations led to the arrest of Edson Guvira, who was shot in the leg after allegedly attempting to flee from police.
The operation later moved to Warren Park 1 Shopping Centre, where four remaining suspects reportedly opened fire on detectives, resulting in a fierce exchange of gunfire.
All four suspects later died from injuries sustained during the shootout.
Police say investigations are still underway to determine the full extent of the gang’s activities across Harare.
