A disturbing incident in Durban has highlighted rising tensions during anti-illegal immigration protests.
Footage circulating online shows a group of demonstrators confronting a man outside a local tuckshop, with the situation quickly escalating from a verbal dispute into physical violence.
Witnesses reported that the group questioned the man’s identification and legal status before attacking him with sticks and forcing him to close his shop.
The assault continued even after the premises were shut, with the crowd ordering him to leave the area immediately.
The incident is linked to ongoing movements similar to Operation Dudula, which have sparked controversy due to reports of vigilante-style actions targeting individuals perceived to be undocumented.
The situation has raised serious concerns about public safety, human rights, and growing social tensions in parts of South Africa.
