The Zimbabwe Nurses Association has announced a nationwide strike set for April 15 to April 17, 2026, unless their demands are addressed.

In a notice to the Health Service Commission, the association outlined a range of grievances, including low salaries, lack of a Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA), rising transport costs, and concerns over salary deductions and missing payslips.

Nurses also raised issues around outdated allowances, high accommodation costs, staff shortages, and limited control over shift scheduling, along with concerns about labour rights and workplace conditions.

ZINA is demanding a salary review, introduction of a meaningful COLA, improved allowances, better payroll transparency, fair job grading, and reforms to the locum system.

The association also called for non-monetary incentives such as housing support and residential stands, as well as constructive dialogue with authorities.

ZINA stated that the planned strike could be called off if a positive response to their demands is received before the deadline.
