Severe flash flooding has brought parts of Gwanda and surrounding areas to a standstill following heavy and persistent rainfall.
Visual reports show Trigger Lodges almost completely submerged, with floodwaters rising to roof level. Vehicles and buildings in the area have been overwhelmed, leaving properties inaccessible and causing significant damage.
The Zimbabwe National Water Authority confirmed that Mtshabezi Dam is currently spilling, leading to dangerously high water levels in the Mtshabezi River.
Officials say the river has reached its highest levels in more than a decade, worsening the flooding situation.
Residents are urged to exercise extreme caution as conditions remain hazardous and infrastructure continues to be affected
