The case involving Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe and his co-accused Tobias Tamirepi Matonhodze has been postponed to 17 April 2026 after prosecutors indicated that plea negotiations are still ongoing.

Both men remain in custody following the delay.

The court heard that discussions toward a plea agreement are continuing, despite earlier indications that a deal was close. The presiding magistrate warned that no further postponements will be granted and that the matter must proceed on the next scheduled date.

The two accused face multiple charges, including attempted murder, after a 23-year-old gardener was allegedly shot in the back at a Hyde Park residence in mid-February.

Additional charges include firearm-related offences, defeating the ends of justice, and alleged violations of immigration laws.

Earlier in the proceedings, the pair withdrew their bail applications due to complications linked to the immigration-related charges.
