Donald Trump announced today that the United States has launched a “massive and ongoing operation” against the Iranian regime, following weeks of stalled nuclear negotiations in Geneva and a significant military buildup in the region.
In a video address, the President described Iran’s leadership as a “wicked, radical dictatorship” and said the primary objective of the mission is to dismantle the country’s missile industry and navy.
“We are going to destroy their missiles and raze their missile industry to the ground,” he said, adding that the operation aims to ensure Iran “will never have a nuclear weapon.”
President Trump acknowledged the risk of American casualties but stated that the decision was necessary for U.S. national security. He also issued a direct warning to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), telling them to lay down their arms or face severe consequences.
In an appeal to the Iranian public, Trump encouraged a change in government, saying, “Your hour of freedom is at hand,” and suggesting that the ultimate goal of the operation includes the removal of the current leadership.
The strikes come after a 48-hour state of emergency was declared in Israel, where Defense Minister Israel Katz warned of immediate retaliation from Iranian forces. Air raid sirens have already been reported in Tel Aviv and central Israel as the region braces for further escalation.
