The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) has issued a clarification regarding reports circulating about recent arrests linked to its ongoing investigations in Harare.
According to ZACC Commissioner Kindness Paradza, only former Harare South legislator Shadreck Mashayamombe and Harare Deputy Mayor Rosemary Muronda are currently in custody. The Commission moved swiftly to correct claims that Harare Mayor Councillor Jacob Mafume had also been arrested.
Commissioner Paradza explained that Councillor Mafume was not detained but was merely called in for questioning as part of the broader investigations. He emphasized that, at this stage, Mashayamombe and Deputy Mayor Muronda are the only individuals who have been formally arrested.
ZACC confirmed that investigations are still ongoing and that further updates will be provided as the process unfolds. The Commission reiterated its commitment to transparency and due process as it continues its work in addressing corruption-related matters.
