Tendai Magaya, the wife of Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries founder Prophet Walter Magaya, has been granted US$500 bail following her appearance in the Harare Magistrates Court on charges of fraud. She is jointly accused alongside her husband in a case that has drawn significant public attention.
According to court proceedings, the Magayas are facing allegations of defrauding individuals and investors through undisclosed transactions linked to their ministry’s business operations. While details of the case are still unfolding, prosecutors allege that the couple misrepresented certain financial dealings, resulting in losses to several complainants.
Tendai Magaya, who appeared composed during the court session, was released on bail pending further investigation and trial. The magistrate imposed standard conditions, including the surrender of her passport and regular reporting to the police.
Her husband, Prophet Walter Magaya, however, remains in custody, with the court indicating that his bail application will be determined after further submissions from both the prosecution and defense teams.
Outside the courthouse, a small crowd of supporters gathered to show solidarity, with some expressing confidence that the Magayas would “prove their innocence in due course.”
The case has sparked widespread discussion on social media and within religious circles, given Prophet Magaya’s high profile in Zimbabwe’s charismatic church community. Authorities have confirmed that investigations are ongoing and more details will be revealed as the matter proceeds.
