HARARE – Mnangagwa Urges Party to Prioritise Grassroots Development

ZANU-PF President and First Secretary Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa has directed the ruling party to place grassroots empowerment and citizens’ livelihoods at the centre of all deliberations ahead of its 22nd National People’s Conference.

Speaking at the 128th Central Committee meeting held at the party headquarters in Harare, President Mnangagwa said the conference — themed “Attainment of Vision 2030 Through Economic Empowerment and Value Addition” — should produce tangible resolutions aimed at driving national growth and prosperity.

“The conference theme underscores our party’s unwavering determination to accelerate the achievement of an upper-middle-income status by 2030,” Mnangagwa said.
“It gives impetus to lift many more of our people out of poverty into prosperity, anchored by productivity, industrialisation, modernisation, and deployment of new technologies.”

Focus on Poverty Alleviation and National Progress

President Mnangagwa emphasised that the party’s discussions must remain disciplined, focused, and guided by national interest, particularly in efforts to uplift communities at the grassroots level.

“Improving the lives of the people at the grassroots level must be at the core of all discussions. The overall recommendations and resolutions should be aimed at propelling our country forward,” he said.

He reaffirmed that ZANU-PF’s policies will continue to promote unity, peace, prosperity, and sustainable development, noting the progress achieved despite international sanctions.

Economic Empowerment and Industrialisation Drive

Highlighting the successes in the agricultural sector and other key areas, President Mnangagwa said ZANU-PF remains committed to programmes that strengthen economic resilience and local productivity.

“Our colossal mass party will continue to implement policies that consolidate unity, peace, prosperity, and sustainable development,” he added.

Central Committee Members Receive Vehicles for Party Work

As part of ongoing efforts to improve operational efficiency within the party, President Mnangagwa also oversaw the distribution of vehicles to Central Committee members.
Twenty were handed out personally by the President, while the remaining 47 were distributed at State House earlier in the week.

“Vehicles have now been distributed to members of the central committee. As I previously stated, these are for the benefit of the people and the party as a whole,” he said.

All Roads Lead to Mutare

Preparations are now in full swing for the official opening of the ZANU-PF National People’s Conference in Mutare this Friday.
The Central Committee meeting served as a platform for members to review achievements and refine strategies ahead of the national gathering, where the party’s progress toward Vision 2030 will be a central focus.
