A 32-year-old man from Bindura has been sentenced to an effective 12 months in prison after pleading guilty to a serious case of domestic violence involving his wife.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, the incident occurred on June 21, 2026, at a farm in Bindura following a domestic dispute over allegations of infidelity.
Prosecutors told the court that the accused inflicted severe injuries on his 42-year-old wife using a razor blade during the altercation.
The victim sustained serious wounds and received assistance after the incident, which was later reported to the authorities.
The Bindura Magistrates’ Court convicted the man after he pleaded guilty to domestic violence involving physical abuse under Zimbabwe’s Domestic Violence Act.
He was sentenced to 18 months in prison, with six months suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour, leaving an effective 12-month custodial sentence.
