President Cyril Ramaphosa officially opened the first Google Cloud Summit in Africa at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg on Wednesday, 1 July 2026.
The event brought together global technology innovators, African policymakers, and industry leaders to discuss the growing impact of cloud computing and artificial intelligence on the continent.
Held under the theme, “Google Cloud Is Building For Africa,” the summit focused on digital transformation, innovation, and the future of Africa’s technology ecosystem.
The gathering also featured announcements of new investment commitments in South Africa aimed at strengthening the country’s digital economy and accelerating technological development.
