A family in Rusape is searching for answers following the death of Mr Mapombere, who reportedly disappeared while attending a funeral with his wife in Headlands in May.
According to the family, the couple travelled together for the funeral, but after the event, his wife was unable to locate him and returned home hoping he would arrive later.
After failing to find him, she was later contacted by police and informed that his body had been discovered under a tree by a young man who had been hunting birds.
The family says Mr Mapombere was found about two kilometres from the place where he was last seen.
Relatives have raised concerns over the circumstances surrounding his death, noting that he was found wearing only one shoe, while the second shoe was reportedly recovered after his burial.
Although a post-mortem report classified the death as resulting from natural causes, the family says many questions remain unanswered and they continue to seek clarity on what happened.
