Equatorial Guinea’s government has resigned after failing to meet its development targets, according to Vice-President Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue.

The vice-president said Prime Minister Manuel Osa Nsue Nsua submitted the resignation of the entire government after achieving less than 10% of its planned objectives.

He stated that public officials must be accountable for results, describing the level of implementation as far below expectations and commitments.

The ruling Democratic Party of Equatorial Guinea (PDGE) said President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo was dissatisfied with the outgoing administration’s management, citing the misuse of state resources for personal interests and delays in development projects.

The party also said the president wants stronger efforts to diversify the economy, particularly through agriculture, to reduce dependence on imported goods.

The outgoing government had been appointed in 2024.
