The South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO) has warned that planned immigration protests could disrupt public transport, economic activity, and regional trade.
In a statement, SANTACO said it supports lawful immigration reform and called on demonstrators to express their concerns peacefully and within the confines of the law.
The council stressed that migration into South Africa should occur through legal channels, adding that proper border management and compliance with immigration laws are essential.
SANTACO noted that the transport sector plays a vital role in connecting people to jobs, education, healthcare, and businesses, warning that disruptions could negatively affect livelihoods, tourism, trade, and investor confidence.
The organisation urged all stakeholders to respect the law and support efforts aimed at improving border management and immigration administration.
