Former police detective Jaison Muvevi has been sentenced to four life terms plus an additional 40 years in prison after being convicted of multiple murder and attempted murder charges.
The sentence was handed down by Justice Gibson Mandaza at the Harare High Court.
According to court proceedings, Muvevi was found guilty of four counts of murder, including the fatal shooting of a police officer, as well as four counts of attempted murder.
Justice Mandaza imposed four life sentences for the murder convictions and added 40 years for the attempted murder charges.
The ruling marks the conclusion of one of the most serious criminal cases involving a former law enforcement officer in recent years.
