A manager at First Capital Bank, Stanley Tasiyana, has appeared before a Harare magistrate facing charges of theft of trust property involving a company vehicle valued at US$45,000.
Tasiyana, 39, was granted US$500 bail after allegedly disposing of a Toyota Hilux double cab assigned to him for official duties without authorization from the bank.
According to prosecutors, the matter came to light after the bank requested the vehicle for routine maintenance and inspection on May 5, 2026, but Tasiyana allegedly failed to surrender it before going on sick leave.
Investigators later tracked the vehicle to a residence in Borrowdale West, where it was found in the possession of a man who claimed he had purchased it through intermediaries.
Police investigations reportedly uncovered a chain of unauthorized transactions linked to the vehicle, with documents allegedly showing the vehicle had been sold as far back as September 2025.
The Toyota Hilux has since been recovered and is being held by ZRP Borrowdale as investigations and court proceedings continue.
