Mahikeng activist and traditional healer Thato Molosankwe has been shot dead in a tragic attack that took place on Wednesday morning.
Police say Molosankwe was attacked at his home in Lomanyaneng where he sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Acting National Commissioner Puleng Dimpane strongly condemned the killing and assured the community that those responsible will be tracked down and brought to justice.
Dimpane also ordered maximum police resources to be deployed in the hunt for the suspects.
In a statement, police described Molosankwe as a community-minded individual who worked closely with law enforcement in efforts to fight crime and corruption while strengthening relations between SAPS and local communities.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing and more details are expected to emerge as the case develops.
