The Zimbabwean government has ordered all provinces to submit detailed reports on areas affected by illegal communal land allocations known as “Sabhuku Deals.”
The directive, issued through the Office of the President and Cabinet, requires provinces to identify all affected areas by May 15, 2026.
According to government officials, some local chiefs and village leaders have been allocating communal land without proper authorization.
Authorities say the land involved is meant for entire communities and cannot legally be divided or distributed without approval.
The nationwide exercise forms part of a broader crackdown targeting the illegal parcelling and sale of communal land across the country.
The directive was signed by Eng. T. Muguti, Permanent Secretary for Presidential Affairs and Devolution in the Office of the President.
