Zimpapers has reportedly instructed employees to return gifts received from businessman Wicknell Chivayo following his recent appearance on Capitalk FM.
According to reports, presenter Phathisani Sibanda was told to reject a vehicle offer or resign from the company.
During a studio interview on May 5, 2026, Chivayo reportedly distributed US$30,000 for “lunch” to be shared among 30 staff members and also offered Sibanda a brand new 2025 Toyota GD6.
Under a company gifts policy introduced in 2024, employees are prohibited from accepting gifts worth more than US$100 and are required to declare all gifts received.
Reports indicate that each employee will only be allowed to keep US$100, while the remaining amount is expected to be returned.
The policy was reportedly introduced to maintain editorial standards and avoid any appearance of bribery within the organisation.
Sources also claim the company suggested the remaining funds could instead be donated toward the purchase of vehicles for general staff use.
