Christ Embassy Church in Belvedere, Harare hosted the second edition of Amai’s Traditional Cookout Competition today.
The initiative was inspired by the Tourism Patron, Her Excellency The First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa, as part of efforts to preserve Zimbabwe’s cultural heritage through gastronomy and religious tourism.
The competition featured 28 contestants drawn from communities, youths, and persons with disabilities.
Participants showcased a variety of traditional dishes including chihombiro chinedovi, gwatakwata, mbwire-mbwire, mutakura, and brown rice sadza.
Local beverages such as mahewu, masvusvu, and Makoni tea were also presented during the event.
Speaking at the occasion, Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Hon Barbara Rwodzi highlighted tourism as a key pillar toward achieving Vision 2030 and promoting inclusive development.
The event was praised for celebrating Zimbabwean culture, food, and community participation.
