A rehabilitation centre in Emganwini, Bulawayo, is at the centre of a major investigation following serious allegations of abuse involving former and current patients.
The facility’s owner, Norris Pikanegore, is reportedly being sought by law enforcement after multiple individuals came forward with claims of sexual assault and physical violence.
The investigation began after a female patient escaped during the night and alerted her family, prompting more than 30 others to report similar experiences.
Victims have described an environment of fear, alleging they were threatened, beaten, and subjected to degrading treatment.
Reports also suggest the centre was operating without qualified medical or mental health staff, raising further concerns about its legitimacy.
Police later discovered 21 patients at a separate residence in Cowdray Park living in overcrowded conditions.
Authorities are now working to reunite victims with their families as investigations continue and more people are expected to come forward.
The suspect is believed to be on the run, with reports suggesting he may have fled the country.
