The Minister of Health and Child Care, Dr. Douglas Mombeshora, has officially called upon nurses in selected health institutions to halt their current industrial action.
The appeal comes as the government seeks to create a stable environment for what the Minister described as a transparent and productive engagement process.
Dr. Mombeshora stated that the government fully acknowledges the grievances raised by nurses and remains committed to finding a sustainable resolution.
The industrial action began on Monday, 20 April 2026, following long-standing concerns over poor working conditions, high transport costs, and salary increments that workers say are inadequate.
The Zimbabwe Nurses Association (ZINA) indicated that the promised salary adjustment fell far below expectations, leaving many health professionals struggling to meet basic needs.
An extraordinary technical meeting has now been convened between the Health Apex Panel and the Health Services Commission to review the matter.
The Ministry has urged health workers to return to duty to ensure patients are not affected while discussions continue.
