A 27-year-old security guard, Kona Mandlenkosi, has died following a violent armed robbery at Hallingbury Primary School in Harare West.
The incident occurred on Monday night when the victim was confronted by three armed suspects while on duty.
Reports indicate the attackers used crowbars and bricks, inflicting severe head injuries during the assault.
Mandlenkosi was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
Police believe the attack may be linked to a growing trend of robberies targeting schools and churches, with similarities noted to a recent incident at Marlborough High School.
In response, authorities have increased patrols and security presence in areas including Marlborough, Mabelreign, and Westgate.
