Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe and his co-accused Tobias Mugabe Matonhodze appeared before the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday as their case reached a critical stage.
The matter has been postponed to 24 March 2026 to allow both the State and the defense to finalize a plea agreement, which the court heard is “nearly finished.”
During proceedings, it was revealed that while negotiations are at an advanced stage, a small portion of the agreement is still outstanding. The State requested the postponement, indicating it was not yet ready to proceed with the finalized terms.
The two are facing serious charges linked to a shooting incident at Mugabe’s Hyde Park residence in February, which left a 23-year-old gardener in critical condition.
The case is expected to resume once the plea agreement is fully concluded.
