The United Arab Emirates temporarily closed its airspace following reports of incoming missile and drone threats linked to Iran, according to the country’s defence authorities.

The precautionary measure was announced as part of efforts to ensure the safety of residents, visitors, and aviation operations during heightened regional tensions.

Airlines including Emirates and Etihad Airways, which had recently resumed some flights, were affected by the temporary closure.

Authorities later confirmed that the airspace shutdown was a short-term safety measure, with flight operations gradually returning to normal after a security assessment. ()

The situation highlights the growing impact of regional conflict on global travel and aviation, with disruptions, delays, and rerouted flights affecting passengers across multiple countries.
