The South African Police Service (SAPS) has confirmed that Zimbabwean musician Malloti is wanted in connection with an armed robbery case dating back to 2017. Authorities revealed that a warrant for her arrest was issued by the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court in the Western Cape.
According to Western Cape SAPS spokesperson Captain F.C. Van Wyk, “The accused is wanted on a case of robbery with firearm after a warrant was issued.” The case is linked to an incident in Rondebosch under case number CAS 78/11/2017.
Police say the matter has since been removed from the court roll pending her arrest. Malloti is believed to be currently residing in Zimbabwe, prompting South African authorities to initiate extradition proceedings to ensure she returns to face the charges.
Investigative journalist Maynard Manyowa claimed that the musician has been “hiding in plain sight” despite her public profile and celebrity status. The docket has now been handed over to the Director of Public Prosecutions, who will coordinate the legal process required for extradition.
If extradition is successful, Malloti will be brought before a South African court to answer to the armed robbery allegations. Authorities have indicated that the process is now underway as efforts intensify to locate and apprehend the musician.
