The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has taken a major step in strengthening its operational readiness with the commissioning of a new fleet of high-powered boats, motorcycles, and specialized vehicles. The development is expected to significantly improve law enforcement efficiency, emergency response, and service delivery nationwide.

Commissioner-General of Police Stephen Mutamba officiated at the commissioning ceremony, highlighting that the new equipment forms part of ongoing efforts to modernize the police force and enhance its ability to respond swiftly to both criminal activity and emergencies.

The newly acquired high-powered boats will be strategically deployed to police provinces and stations located near major waterways across Zimbabwe. These vessels will play a crucial role in water-based operations, including rescue missions, patrols, escorts, and other security-related duties in rivers, lakes, and dams.

In addition to the boats, the fleet includes motorcycles and specialized vehicles designed to improve mobility, especially in hard-to-reach areas and high-density urban zones. The motorcycles will enable officers to navigate traffic congestion more effectively, while the specialized vehicles will support rapid deployment during operations and emergencies.

The ZRP said the enhanced fleet will strengthen public safety, improve response times, and ensure better policing coverage across the country, reaffirming the force’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
