The Zimbabwe Republic Police have confirmed the arrest of five family members in connection with the murder of 54-year-old John Chimana Chaora, a case that has sent shockwaves through Kazunga Village in Guruve.
The suspects include four adults and a juvenile aged 16, highlighting the deeply disturbing nature of the incident. Police identified the accused as Kelvin Katuruza Chaora (26), Chemika Gwenzi (33), Bvumbe Mandeya (35), Ranwes Chaora (58), and one unnamed minor.
Chaora was last seen alive on Christmas Day at Bowen Shops in Kazunga Village. When he failed to return home, concern grew among relatives and neighbors, prompting a missing person report to be filed on December 28, 2025.
Following investigations, police managed to track down the suspects and recovered some of the victim’s belongings that had been taken after his disappearance. The case took a grim turn on New Year’s Eve when Chaora’s body was discovered near Ambush Dam.
While the motive behind the killing is still under investigation, all five suspects are currently in police custody as authorities continue to piece together the events leading to the tragic death. Police say further details will be released as investigations progress and legal proceedings unfold.
