The Zimbabwe Republic Police have intercepted a large consignment of illicit substances along the Harare–Beitbridge Road after stopping a haulage truck belonging to Chita One Investments.
During the operation, officers recovered 221 kilograms of dagga, compressed into 14 large bales. Police also seized a significant quantity of unregistered and restricted cough syrups commonly abused as intoxicants.
The recovered medicines include 1,550 bottles of Broncleer, 960 bottles of Benylin, and 810 bottles of Astra pain syrup, all in 100ml bottles. Images of the seized exhibits were shared on the ZRP’s official social media platforms as part of their ongoing “No to drug peddling and illicit substances” campaign.
The truck and its cargo have been impounded as investigations continue. Police are yet to release details regarding the arrest of the driver or other crew members linked to the transportation of the illegal substances.
