Basket Hounds Basketball Club’s junior team has brought pride to Zimbabwe after winning a Youth Basketball Regional Tournament held in Lusaka, Zambia, last weekend.
Representing the country, the young side finished first in a competitive field made up of teams from across the host city, delivering impressive performances throughout the tournament to emerge overall champions.
The club’s head coach and co-founder praised the team’s discipline and consistency, saying the players rose to the occasion against strong Lusaka-based opposition.
Basket Hounds is an elite basketball club with development structures ranging from under-9 level through to senior teams. The club is currently the back-to-back national champion and has represented Zimbabwe twice at the Basketball Africa League with its senior squad. Its under-20 team has also competed internationally, previously finishing second at a South African tournament that featured teams from Zambia, Botswana, Malawi and South Africa.
The latest victory further cements Basket Hounds’ growing reputation as one of Zimbabwe’s leading basketball development programs.
