The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has officially dismissed former Assistant Inspector Simbarashe Mandizvidza (35) from the police service following findings of gross misconduct and improper behaviour. His discharge was finalized on December 3, 2025, after a full internal disciplinary hearing.

According to a ZRP press statement, the Commissioner-General of Police maintains a zero-tolerance policy for criminal, unprofessional, or unruly conduct by officers, stressing that disciplinary measures under the Police Act will continue to be enforced without compromise.

Mandizvidza’s misconduct stems from incidents recorded on 13 and 14 August 2025, where he acted in an unbecoming manner and violated policing standards. Beyond the disciplinary action, he has also been arrested and now faces several serious criminal charges, including:

  • Causing disaffection within the Police or Defence Forces
  • Fraudulently obtaining and using a motor vehicle
  • Transmitting false information intending to cause harm

The former officer gained public attention after posting videos on social media in which he falsely claimed to be “in charge of the police” and unlawfully ordered Chinese nationals to leave Zimbabwe within 48 hours. Investigations also linked him to the alleged theft of a Ford Ranger.

ZRP reiterated that such behaviour tarnishes the integrity of the police service and will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
