A 49-year-old medical doctor, Dr. Farikai Manjeya, has been formally arraigned at the Gweru Magistrates’ Court alongside three others — Tafara Chigoya, Kudakwashe Godknows Mutata (29), and Tariro Pambwa (35) — on charges of possessing dangerous drugs, specifically methamphetamine (commonly known as “mutoriro”).

The arrests came after a police operation conducted on November 9, 2025, following intelligence reports of illegal drug activity at the doctors’ cottages in Gweru, where Dr. Manjeya resides.

Upon arrival, detectives reportedly found the four individuals smoking crystal meth, and seized several items linked to drug use, including J-pipes, a cigarette lighter, and an empty sachet believed to have contained methamphetamine.

All four suspects were immediately arrested and have since been remanded in custody pending a formal bail hearing.

Authorities have reiterated their zero-tolerance stance on drug abuse, emphasizing that law enforcement will continue to clamp down on the possession and distribution of dangerous substances across the country.
