The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has issued a strong and renewed call to all citizens to take an active role in the fight against corruption, criminal misconduct, and police impersonation by reporting any suspicious behavior directly to its National Complaints Desk.

This comes amid growing concerns over the increasing number of individuals — including some rogue officers — who have been accused of tarnishing the reputation of the police service through acts of extortion, harassment, and illegal operations.

According to the ZRP, several reports have surfaced of people posing as police officers, setting up illegal roadblocks, or demanding bribes under the guise of carrying out official investigations. The force emphasized that such acts not only undermine law enforcement efforts but also erode public confidence in legitimate policing.

The ZRP reiterated that every genuine police officer must always carry a valid and visible identity card and is required to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the law and professional ethics. Any officer who fails to identify themselves properly or behaves suspiciously should be immediately reported.

Citizens are encouraged to note key details such as the officer’s name, badge number, time, and location of the incident when filing a complaint. The National Complaints Desk — which is available 24 hours a day — serves as the official platform for citizens to report corruption, misconduct, or impersonation cases for swift investigation.

In a statement, the police said this initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen accountability, rebuild public trust, and ensure that law enforcement remains a pillar of justice and integrity in Zimbabwe.

The ZRP has reaffirmed its commitment to rooting out corruption within its ranks and protecting the public from those who exploit the police name for personal gain.

📞 The public is urged to use the official ZRP National Complaints Desk to report any such cases immediately.
