Tim Cook will step down as CEO of Apple on 1 September 2026 after nearly 15 years in the role, marking the end of a major era for the technology giant.
Cook, who joined Apple in 1998 and succeeded Steve Jobs as CEO in 2011, helped transform the company into one of the world’s most valuable brands.
Apple has confirmed that John Ternus, the company’s Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, will take over as the new Chief Executive Officer.
Ternus has been with Apple for more than 25 years and has played a major role in the development of key products across the company’s hardware division.
Cook will transition to the role of Executive Chairman, where he will continue supporting Apple, including engaging with global policymakers and guiding the leadership transition.
The move marks a new chapter for Apple as the company prepares for its next phase of innovation and growth.
