The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority has reminded travellers and cross-border traders that the duty-free allowance remains US$200 per person per calendar month.

In its latest notice, ZIMRA said the personal traveller’s rebate allows individuals to bring in goods worth up to US$200 without paying duty, provided the goods meet the prescribed conditions.

The authority clarified that any value above the US$200 limit will attract duty on the excess amount.

ZIMRA also warned that goods brought in for resale or in large quantities will be treated as commercial consignments, which must be fully declared and cleared with duty paid in full.

For consignments valued at less than US$1,000, traders may still clear them directly at ZIMRA counters without using a licensed clearing agent, although pre-clearance was encouraged to speed up the process.

The authority added that passengers will continue to be prioritised for faster processing, while commercial cargo will be handled separately.

Travellers have been urged to declare goods accurately and use pre-clearance facilities to avoid delays at border posts.
