The Zimbabwe Football Association is pushing to co-host the Africa Cup of Nations in 2028 as part of a regional bid led by South Africa.
According to the Victoria Falls City Council, ZIFA president Nqobile Magwizi visited the city on Tuesday to scout for land to build a modern football stadium that could form part of the country’s hosting infrastructure.
Magwizi was accompanied by ZIFA General Secretary Norman Gwangwadza, and the delegation met with city officials led by Town Clerk Ronnie Dube as well as councillors including ZIFA Southern Region vice-president Tafadzwa Mutowa.
Following the meeting, the delegation toured several potential sites in Mkhosana and areas near the Victoria Falls gorges.
The proposed stadium is expected to be a modern facility that would include B and C arenas, forming part of Zimbabwe’s broader effort to strengthen its case to host matches during the 2028 AFCON tournament.
