Police in Malamulele, Limpopo, have launched an intensive manhunt following the brutal murder of a 42-year-old Zimbabwean woman at Xitlhelani Village on Tuesday morning, January 20, 2026.

According to police reports, officers responded to a call at around 6:00 AM and discovered the woman’s body lying on blankets in a back room of the house she had recently rented. She was found in a pool of blood, and Emergency Medical Services declared her dead at the scene. Preliminary examinations revealed that she had sustained a stab wound to her upper body.

The deceased, whose name has not yet been released pending further investigations, was a pre-school teacher at a private school in the Malamulele area. Police say she and her husband had only moved into the rented room a few days before the tragic incident.

As investigations continue, authorities have raised concern over the whereabouts of the woman’s husband, who is currently missing. Police have expressed particular interest in locating Ngonidzashe Sibanda, a Zimbabwean national believed to have information that could be crucial to the case. He is urged to report to the nearest police station as soon as possible.

Law enforcement officials are also appealing to members of the public for assistance. Anyone with information that may help trace the suspect or suspects is encouraged to contact Detective Sergeant Silence Mabasa on 082 319 9724 or call Crime Stop on 08600 10111.

Police patrols in the area have been intensified as investigations remain ongoing, while the local community has been left shocked and grieving by the killing.
