Zimbabwe’s central hospitals have received a major upgrade in emergency and critical care capacity following the distribution of advanced medical devices, including Fibre Optic Video Laryngoscopes—vital tools for lifesaving airway management.
The rollout also includes multi-parameter monitors, blood warmers, fluid infusion pumps, and syringe pumps, marking a significant step toward strengthening the country’s march toward universal health care.
Chitungwiza Central Hospital Clinical Director, Dr. Jonah Kasule, welcomed the development, noting that the new equipment will greatly improve both patient care and clinical training.
“The blood warmers will ensure rapid blood administration during emergencies, and the infusion pumps will reduce staff workload while enhancing accuracy in patient monitoring,”

Hospital Equipment Manager, Ms. Elizabeth Nyemba, confirmed that all devices are fully functional and successfully distributed across central hospitals.
Patients have also expressed satisfaction. Lawrence Hiwa, who recently received treatment, said the upgrades have already made a visible difference in the quality of care.
With patient numbers rising and hospitals managing increasing high-risk cases, this investment in modern medical equipment is seen as a critical boost to Zimbabwe’s healthcare delivery system, ensuring faster interventions and improved outcomes nationwide.
