Popular comedian and content creator Admire Takudzwa Mushambi, widely known by her stage name Mama Vee, is facing a warrant of arrest after failing to appear at the Harare Magistrates Court on a scheduled date.
Mama Vee is a key witness in the high-profile E-Creator Ponzi scheme case, a scandal that allegedly defrauded investors of more than US$300,000. The warrant was issued by Regional Magistrate Francis Mapfumo after the comedian failed to attend the proceedings.
Background of the Case
The E-Creator Ponzi scheme shocked Zimbabwe’s digital community when it was exposed in 2023 as one of the country’s largest online scams. The fraudulent platform lured thousands of Zimbabweans with promises of quick profits from digital marketing and affiliate programs — only to collapse, leaving victims counting their losses.
Mama Vee, who had previously collaborated with E-Creator for promotional content, was called as a state witness to testify regarding her involvement and knowledge of the company’s operations.
Court Proceedings and Arrest Warrant
During the latest court session, Mama Vee failed to appear, prompting Magistrate Mapfumo to issue a warrant for her immediate arrest. The prosecution informed the court that she had been duly notified of the court date but did not provide any reason for her absence.
Authorities are now expected to locate and bring her before the court to provide testimony that could play a crucial role in the ongoing trial.
Public Reaction
News of the arrest warrant has sparked widespread conversation on social media, with fans expressing mixed emotions — some showing sympathy for the comedian, while others criticized her for not taking the legal process seriously.
The StarFM Zimbabwe report confirming the warrant has since gone viral, reigniting public interest in the long-running E-Creator scandal.
