Joe Kent, the director of the National Counterterrorism Center, has announced his resignation, stating that he “cannot in good conscience” support the Trump administration’s war in Iran.
In a public statement shared on social media, Kent said that Iran “posed no imminent threat” to the United States, raising serious concerns about the justification for the conflict.
He further claimed that the war was initiated due to external pressure, specifically pointing to influence from Israel and its American lobbying networks.
Kent’s resignation highlights growing divisions within U.S. leadership circles over the decision to engage in the conflict, with critics questioning both the motives and the potential long-term consequences.
The development is expected to intensify debate around U.S. foreign policy and military involvement in the Middle East
