Comedian and social media personality Madam Boss has clapped back at critics who mocked her invitation to speak at the Tech Convergence Forum 2025, organized by the Ministry of ICT and attended by top innovators, entrepreneurs, and digital leaders.
Some critics claimed Madam Boss was “not educated enough” to take part in a high-level national event — but she didn’t hold back in her response.
“Hu HardTalk wacho mukuhutadza, if this is how you reason then ini ndisina chikoro ndiri better — otherwise why would I be invited to such important national events?”
She went on to thank Minister Tatenda Mavetera for recognizing her contribution and giving her a platform to represent social media personalities who continue to shape Zimbabwe’s digital landscape.
During her speech titled “Challenges and Opportunities for Social Media Influencers,” Madam Boss spoke confidently about the struggles and prospects in the digital space. She addressed major issues such as:
📶 Poor internet connectivity and high data costs
💰 Limited monetisation options for creators
💬 Online abuse, especially targeting women
⚖️ Lack of regulation and protection for influencers
Despite these challenges, Madam Boss expressed optimism, saying the rise of affordable smartphones, growing internet access, and expanding digital marketing are creating new opportunities for Zimbabwean content creators.
She concluded her speech by praising the government’s efforts to include influencers in national conversations about technology and innovation — proving that success is not just about formal education but also about impact, talent, and resilience.
